Bernina Sewing Centre classes offer the following:

• All sewing machines, overlockers and accessories, including machine preser feet, walking feet, irons , ironing boards and a steam press, are offered for student use at no extra charge. Also offered for student use are cutting mats, rotary cutters and rulers.
• Students are encouraged to bring their own machines if this is their preference. This is often the case if a student has just purchased a new machine
• Small class sizes - mostly classes are limited to eight students
• The shop is always open during class time allowing the opportunity to add extras to your project or purchase things you may have forgotten.
• Free tea and coffee.

Students need to bring….. Their project materials, pins, scissors, thread and any other personal sewing requirements. A sense of humour! For the sake of other students….. no children and turn off your cellphone!

Class Schedule

Classes generally coincide with the school terms and run for six weeks per term. Please enquire for current class availability.

Workshops

Occasional workshops for specific projects are held periodically.

Angel Wall Hanging- A georgous wall hanging, This is a must have it is a 2 day class, Wed April 27 and May 11 cost $80.00 plus materials, tutor Paula Lawrence. Enquire for our next workshop dates.
Circular Folded Wall Hanging or Center piece- This is an amazing piece using a variety of techniques, Designed and taught by Paula Lawrence, it really has to be seen to be believed, The class is for an experienced sewer. Saturday May 14 10am to 4pm. Cost $40.00 plus materials Enquire for our next workshop dates.
Floriani Demo Afternoon- This is an amazing chance to explore the world of stablizers, fusible webbing, etc it is very informative and will teach you alot weather you are a dress maker, patchworker, embroiderer there is no charge for this class but do let me know if you are coming and join us for a nice cup of tea or coffee. French Braid Table Runner- Beautiful Table Runner By Paula Lawrence. This is awonderful center piece. Two classes are available, the first is a 2 morning class, Tue Feb 1st and thurs 3rd Feb 10am to 12.30pm, the second is a full day Saturday 26th February 10am to 4pm. Golly Doll- You can add this Golly to your collection boy or girl. September 17 and 18 10am to 4pm Cost $60.00 plus materials. Tutor Paula Lawrence Enquire for our next workshop dates.
Jill Maas Doll Maisie and her Mouse- Jill will be here October 1 and 2 be in quick as this class will fill up quick. Enquire for our next workshop dates.

Bernina Club
Bernina Club is a friendly get-together of Bernina machine owners. The group meets approxiamately every six to eight weeks at the Bernina Sewing Centre. The programme includes new craft ideas, machine hints and helps and often a “show and tell” of members work. Meetings are held on Mondays at 10.15am and 7pm. The next meeting is December 1.

Thimbleberries Quilt Club Thimbleberries Quilt Cub members meeting monthly on a Thursday evening. The group enjoys making new projects designed by Thimbleberries founder Lynette Jensen utilising the unique Thimbleberries range of fabrics. Bernina Ashburton currently has in stock full kits for the Thimbleberries Lazy Crazy Quilt.

Machine Servicing and Repair.

Bernina Ashburton offer a repair service for all makes and models of sewing machine and overlocker.
John Driscoll is a Bernina trained technician available full-time to attend to your sewing equipment.
